This issue of Earth First! focuses on the NO-GO ROAD movement, in which people assemble to blockade roads in order to stop ongoing road construction through wilderness areas in the US. Earth First! set in motion a nonviolent blockade of the Bald Mountain road construction in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness in Oregon.
"The Forest Service is an outlaw agency. If we don’t stop them in the Kalmiopsis, there won’t be any old growth forest left on the Pacific Coast outside of currently designated wilderness and parks."
— Marcy Willow of Eugene, Oregon
